As you may know, I have quite a bit going on at all times. Even with it being March I’ve gone to multiple gigs, made a keynote speech, and have even attended a few conferences. People ask me all of the time “How do you manage your time?”.

This free guide details the 8 step process I used to build a network of referral partners that have sent me up to 300 leads in a day.
In the last 7 to 8 months, I’ve realized that mindset is everything. When you believe you don’t have enough time, you most likely won’t have enough time. But if you take a step back and look at what you’re doing with your time, you might think differently. So, how do you manage your time and manage it wisely? Here are a few of my tips!
Give Up Time Suckers
When I interviewed my friend Michelle Schroeder-Gardner for my podcast, she shocked me with a statistic about time. She told me that based on studies, the average American watched 30 hours of TV a week. To me, that was insane! I barely watch TV, because I feel like it takes away from things that are more important for me to be doing.
If you find yourself not having time, you need to look at your days and weeks and see where you’re spending your time. If you find yourself constantly watching TV or on social media, you need to reevaluate. The same way you budget your money, you need to budget your time. You need to be spending your time doing things that make you a better person or make you money.
For example, before taking on a new project, I ask myself if it’s worth my time. I even have a dollar amount attached to my time. If that project isn’t making me any money or isn’t worth the efforts I have to put into it, I won’t take it on.
Get Your Energy Up
Sometimes, it isn’t the fact that you don’t have enough time to do things, it’s that you don’t have enough energy. When we aren’t fueled properly, we tend to take longer to finish tasks that shouldn’t really take us that long. We also tend to feel sluggish and put things on the backburner until we absolutely have to do them.
Anyone who knows me knows that I take care of myself. I sleep and don’t sacrifice my sleep to finish projects. I eat healthy 80-90% of the time. I’ve made sure to workout regularly. I’ll meditate. I do whatever I can to keep my mind and body healthy. I even get a monthly massage now. I’ve put in the effort to take care of myself in all aspects of my life.
Another thing that helps me with my energy is that I’m clear on my purpose and my goals. When you know your purpose, you’ll start asking yourself if what you’re doing is bringing you closer to what you want or away from what you want. And then you’ll start to make better decisions to manage your time and achieve that purpose.
The best tips I have are to get clear on your purpose and do a time audit to check and see where your time is going. From there, you can make changes, add in other productivity tips and resources, and get yourself on the right track. But managing your time all start with knowing where it’s going and knowing where you’re going.
