In this week’s video, I’m answering a ton of questions about Notion. I’ve put together a Notion tutorial and walkthrough to show you how I use Notion in my business and my life.
What is Notion?
How do I describe Notion? I suppose you can describe it as a project management system but that doesn’t feel quite like enough. A place to store databases also doesn’t sound like enough. And now that there is also Notion AI it’s hard to describe what exactly this powerful app is because it really does operate like a sort of second brain that you can customize any way that you want.

According to their website, Notion is a productivity web application so let’s just go with that.
When did I discover Notion?
I discovered Notion in the Spring/Summer of 2022. I was looking for a way to streamline my business and stumbled upon this tool on YouTube. I already followed a few productivity bloggers and they raved about Notion.
After watching a few videos I had to try it. So I downloaded the app and got started with free templates in their database. From there I just started playing with it until I found things that worked for me.
The beauty of Notion is you can customize it any way you want. As you will see in this Notion tutorial, I may purchase a template from someone but add in edits and customizations that work for what I need.
I literally use it for everything – from project management to my plant watering schedule to a digital journal. Literally everything.
Main Takeaways from The Notion Tutorial
- If you’re just getting started with Notion do yourself a favor and download templates other people have made. I have found things can get a little crazy with linking databases so let other people handle that for you.
- Create a sort of dashboard where you can see all of your favorite pages at a glance. I have them organized by weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual pages that I may have to review. I also have my current favorite Spotify playlists on there 😉
- Mark your favorite and most often viewed pages by starring them and you’ll see them on the menu under “Favorites”
